Every year in the movie business there are dozens of films announced in the trade papers, that for one reason or another, never make it to the big screen. The clone genre was not immune to such instances.
First announced in the November 1981 issue of Variety, by Dallas, Texas based company Zapruder Films. THE CLONES OF JUICE NEWTON was ballyhooed to be the next big thing in clone cinema.
The company, armed with a snazzy, eye-catching flyer, then tried to hook in release rights buyers at the Cannes Film Festival in May 1982. Hoping to use those profits to produce the film.
Zapruder Films was able to find some takers - As the rights to the film were purchased for New Guina and Zaire - Apparently two big hotspots for Juice's music- but the production gained no more traction, as THE CLONES OF JUICE NEWTON never made it past the idea stage. Zapruder also tried to get THE CLONES OF RICKIE LEE JONES off the ground, to no avail.
